Doctorsid Opens Gallery / Studio In Historic Cocoa Village, Florida

Doctorsid moved his graphic design studio to Historic Cocoa Village, Florida in December 2004. Along with the new location for his office space which is not only the home of Doctorsid Graphic & Interactive Solutions, but also Photographic Age, Artistic Age and ePresentations. But an even bigger treat for doctorsid was the addition of his own personal fine art gallery featuring over 50 pieces hanging and many more in flip bins.

Joining doctorsid as a full time resident of the gallery is his cat Ezekiel, referred to as "Zekie". Doctorsid offers Limited Edition Giclee Prints and note cards of his works. Limited to a printing of only 50, doctorsid rarely ever actually prints more than five or six prints of each image.

Collectors know that by acquiring one of his prints that it will be very rare and sometimes the only one in existence. Speaking of which is doctorsid's "Extinct Series" in which the original digital files they were printed from have been destroyed. Ranging from 1 to 3 prints available, the Extinct Series is just as it says... Extinct!

You will also find several other series offerings by doctorsid such as his "Holy Land", "Call of the Wild" and "Impressionist" series. Most of his works can be viewed and purchased in small sizes from his section in artisticage.com. But hopefully you can visit the gallery and see images such as "Caged Like An Animal" in a stunning 20x25 print size.

Biography
Doctorsid is a central Florida based photographer & graphic designer who has been capturing photographic images since 1970. Like most photographers, we all have a mentor of some kind. My mentor was my cousin who taught photography at a junior high school. The first time I went into the darkroom and saw all those huge brown jugs filled with chemistry and the photos hanging on a wire to dry I was hooked.

After converting half of my parents’ garage into a darkroom, I spent all day and night every weekend developing and printing. Any money I made from mowing lawns and delivering newspapers would be spent on darkroom and camera equipment. I would eventually turn my darkroom into a two room lab with one room for black & white and the other for color.

Black & white prints on Bromide paper and Cibachrome prints from my slides were hanging on every square inch of wall space in my bedroom. Plus-X pan and Kodachrome 64 were my favorite films that I exposed with my 35mm camera. In 1980 I worked in the camera department of a large retail store which enabled me to learn a great deal about photography products and equipment.

In 1982 I opened the "Image Factory", a full service photography store, darkroom, studio & school. Most of my customers just came by to hang out because they liked the living room atmosphere and would just sit and chat for hours. I taught classes on capturing and developing photographs and also made the darkroom available for rent to students and photographers.

I sold the Image Factory and moved to Charlotte, NC where I opened a small advertising agency known as “Image Works”. Not only did I provide photography and graphic design but I also printed the clients media projects on a small offset press. From concept to the final printed piece, I was able to have complete control which assured maximum quality.

1996 Found me moving to Melbourne, Florida where I became Art Director for a small ad agency. Creating graphic design for trade shows, brochures and authoring interactive CD Rom titles. By the year 2000, my photography interest would begin to reach a new peak as I became art director for Shutterbug and eDigital Photo magazines. Not only was my graphic design endeavors being elevated to a new level, but my passion for photography that I had back in 1970 was burning strong once again. I was being exposed to photography stuff every day.

During my tenure with Shutterbug I had the opportunity to review several cameras and write review articles for the magazine. After two years of failed promises by the publisher I decided to produce my own online photography magazine and open a graphic design studio.

Operating from my Gallery/Studio in historic Cocoa Village I offer photography ranging from fine art, custom advertising imagery, product photography, instructional workshops and digital retouching & enhancements. Macintosh consulting and set up is available for not only photographers but also for graphic designers and agencies.
