photographicage is much more than just a place to read and view articles about photography. With readers from all over the globe we are building a virtual photography community.
Besides our growing list of members, featured photographers and contests, we are also getting involved (as much as time permits) with the photography community here locally. But we don't want to limit ourselves to just the local camera clubs. We are now beginning to build our global listing of camera clubs. Along with that will be a monthly profile of a camera club, its membership and projects.
We need some input... if you are a member of a camera club and would like to see it listed in this global showcase, please take a minute to fill out our camera club data sheet so we can get your club listed.
Even though a lot of our readership seems to be established professionals, I know that a lot of the amateur and advanced amateurs are also reading the pages of photographicage. And although I am exposed to and interacting with pro photographers almost daily, I truly have a great passion and desire to spend time immersed in the camera clubs and with photographers who don't make over 50 percent of their income from photography.
I have seen work by pro photographers that was not nearly as good as many works by those who don't make a living from photography. Actually, I think the definition of professional is a little misguided and incorrect. To me, a professional photographer is someone who has a great passion for the art of capturing images. They have a set vision and style that they shoot regularly and they have a broad knowledge of photographic principals.
No matter if you are an amateur photographer or a pro... you are still a photographer. So forget the money part and let's concentrate on the imaging part. I have a strong desire to pass along any knowledge I may have to help fellow photographers increase their knowledge level. And I too attempt to learn whenever an opportunity arises. I have met far too many photographers who think they know it all. Who cares... it boils down to what kind of image you can make, and that's where camera clubs excel. Having many photographers collaborating to bring out the best in each other's abilities is the goal of the camera clubs.
We will take all those individual camera clubs and showcase them here in photographicage and provide various forums for them to interact with each other. Who knows how far this could go or how deep it will reach with all the resources I have together with thousands of camera clubs across the globe. This will become the cyber home for photography. And you can be a part of it!
